The Pennsylvania Department of Education just announced that it is investing nearly $500,000 in esports for education through the PAsmart Advancing Computer Science & STEM Education Grant.
The grant was awarded to the Emerald Foundation, which works closely with the Samueli Foundation to support NASEF’s growth on the east coast.
The new program in Pennsylvania will bridge gaps between the highest and lowest performing students through highly engaging instruction, ongoing opportunities for team collaboration, creative problem-solving, and competitive fair play. The grant also provides funding for a traveling esports arena!
We’re excited at the level of support given to NASEF in this region. As a Federation, we provide clubs with startup assistance, free tournaments, educational toolkits, coaching, and support – and yet, there are many possibilities for expanding esports programs. Wherever your esports club is (or wherever you want to start one), look for creative funding opportunities like this. Local teens will reap the benefits!
Hearty congratulations to the Emerald Foundation – we look forward to seeing lots of pics of that traveling esports arena on social media. 😊
